AIPTI / IAPTI

El 30 de setiembre de 2009 nació AIPTI, la Asociación Internacional de Profesionales de la Traducción y la Interpretación, de la cual soy miembro.
Esta Asociación nace con los objetivos de: promover el ejercicio ético de la traducción y la interpretación; representar y proteger los intereses profesionales de sus asociados, que serán traductores e intérpretes de todas las especialidades; estimular la creación de lazos institucionales con otras asociaciones y entidades públicas y privadas, nacionales y extranjeras, en defensa de la profesión; aportar al perfeccionamiento, especialización y desarrollo profesional de traductores e intérpretes mediante actividades de formación profesional y de difusión académica, como la organización de congresos, jornadas y encuentros, edición de publicaciones y actividades académicas, entre otras; asistir por medio de representantes a congresos, eventos y reuniones relacionados con la traducción y la interpretación; emitir opinión pública sobre temas relacionados con el ámbito de la actividad de la traducción y la interpretación; establecer vías de comunicación personal, epistolar, electrónica, telefónica y/o por cualquier otro medio entre los integrantes de la asociación para la interacción de los asociados en temas profesionales y sociales; difundir la tarea de traductores e intérpretes; propender al mejoramiento intelectual y cultural de sus asociados.

IAPTI, International Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters, was born on September 30, 2009. I joined it as a member. Its objectives are: to promote ethical practices in the field of Linguistic Translation and Interpretation; to represent and protect the interests of its Members, who shall be Translators and Interpreters in all of their specialties; to stimulate the creation of institutional bonds with other associations and public entities, both foreign and domestic, in defense of the Translating and Interpreting profession; to contribute to the training, specialization and professional development of Translators and Interpreters, by means of professional training activities and academic dissemination, such as the organization of congresses, seminars and meetings, and through the issuing of publications and the development of academic activities, etc; to be in attendance, in the person of its Representatives, at congresses, events and meetings relating to linguistic translation and interpretation; to issue public opinions on subjects related to and surrounding translation and interpretation activities; to establish personal, postal, electronic, telephone and/or any other type of communications links with Members of the Association so as to permit constant interaction on professional and social issues; to advance general knowledge regarding the task of Translators and Interpreters; to promote the intellectual and cultural improvement of its Members.

Since April 2004 I have been very active at ProZ.com. I have a professional profile and a corporate profile. In August 2008 I organized a Conference for Translators in Montevideo. And from March 2007 till March 2009 I served as a Moderator. Our Uruguayan community is very lively.
